Support Services for Birthparents
without this group. These girls
are my friends and we
understand each other in a
way that other people can't."
Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada facilitates a monthly support group
for expectant parents considering adoption for their child. The support group is also a means of support
after placement and we provide
free adoption-related counseling for birthparents before the birth of her child and after the placement, forever. We sponsor a support network for adoptive families and consider our connection with you as a family-building partnership. We have four
full-time social workers with a combined 50+ years of experience in assisting prospective adoptive parents through the lifelong journey of adoption.

Parenting Adopted Kids (PAK)
PAK offers adoptive families and prospective adoptive families a forum to meet other adoptive parents, allow adopted children to play together, and discuss all areas of interest related to adoption. Many aspects of adoptive parenting such as meeting birthparents, openness, the homestudy process, and talking with your child about adoption, are different from biological parenting and cannot be easily understood by those who have not been through the adoption process. PAK offers a casual environment for men, women, children and families to meet, discuss, and celebrate adoption!
PAK Moms
An informal monthly support group that meets at the homes of adoptive and prospective adoptive parents. Food is provided by the hostess and all areas of adoption are discussed by adoptive moms and women beginning the adoption process.
PAK Dads
An informal monthly support group that meets at various locations in the community. Past PAKdad groups have met and participated in activities such as bowling or pool. These monthly meetings allow men a chance to meet discuss the adoption process and the experience of being an adoptive father.
PAK Family Events
Catholic Charities sponsors PAKfamily events throughout the year. PAK events include a spring picnic, a Halloween party, and a holiday party. All families who have adopted or are considering adopting are invited to PAK events.
“PAK is a great way to form lasting friendships and for our daughter to be exposed to other families who are just like hers”
- Helga, adoptive mom
