Refugees are people who have been forced to leave their families, homes, and
countries because of racial, religious, or political persecution. In many cases,
they have fled to save their lives. They seek freedom here in this land of liberty. Refugees arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs.

Migration and Refugee Services resettles refugees from all over the world by providing basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing and education.

For thoserefugees who do not have family in the area, Catholic Charities becomes that family, coordinating and overseeing community resources through its wide
network of programs and services.

The goal is to help every refugee become
self-sufficient, through employment, in the shortest time possible.

 

English as a Second Language School

Catholic Charities provides free English classes to the public and to clients of our Migration & Refugee Program. Learning to speak and read English is essential. Our classes are taught with an instructor and a state of the art computer lab to help individuals improve their language skills and help our refugee clients learn about American life and the southern Nevada work place.

Job Placement in Southern Nevada

Migration and Refugee Services Employment Office begins working with each refugee within days of the client's arrival in southern Nevada.

We assess work skills, provide essential information about the southern Nevada job market, and assist with training.

We also offer a re-certification program for skilled and highly trained refugees to assist them in becoming eligible to practice their professions in the United States.
