New Meal Packaging
Each week more than 8,400 meals are delivered to 1,300 elderly residents through our Meals on Wheels Program.  To demonstrate funding and social responsibility, as well as, our ability to manage resources efficiently, Meals on Wheels is developing more environmentally responsible ways of packaging goods by changing its packaging and processing system.

Through new packaging our meals will be more environmentally friendly.  The trays are biodegradable and compostable.

The molded fiber trays remain rigid from freezer to oven temperatures, are cool to the touch right from the oven, and have good heat retention.

Once the meal is assembled into the new tray it is sealed with printed film with cooking instructions, type of meal, week and date, thereby eliminating the need
for labels.

Recycled Paper
The Meals on Wheels facility daily operation recycles and the Meals on Wheels office provides a monthly menu on recycled paper.  The menu is included in the meal statement we send to your home each month.

Delivery Bags
The Meals on Wheels delivery team has changed the bags used to delivery the meals; plastic bags use a lot of resources and creates a lot of pollution.  The new bags are biodegradable.
