Vice President of Social Services
Albert D. Chavez has been part of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada since September 2016.
He currently serves as the agency’s Vice President of Social Services which is responsible for the overall operation of the agency’s Residential Services, Client Services, Case Management and Adoption Services. Albert has worked the last seventeen years in social services. He has his Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies; his Master’s degree in Counseling; his Post Graduate Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership; is currently completing his Doctorate in Counseling; is a Certified Family Life Educator and is an United States Army Veteran.
Manager of Adoption Services
Terri has a Bachelor degree in Social Work with a minor in Family Studies. While earning her Master’s degree in Social Work, Terri received a Certification in Nonprofit Management as well as several certifications in trauma, anger management and applied neuroscience. Terri has been in the social work field since 2010. Her work experience has included working in community mental health serving children, teens, adults and families. Terri has been a guest speaker locally and nationally on the topics of trauma, social issues affecting children and teens, and grief and loss. Terri serves on the Patient Advisory Council at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health; she is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and The International Association of Trauma Professionals.Terri and her husband have nine children, two of which have been adopted out of the foster care system. Currently, they are in the process of adopting another child. Terri believes that there is no greater display of love for a child than adoption; birth parents and adoptive parents alike love their children sacrificially. It is through her passion that Terri diligently serves and advocates for families and children through adoption services.
Adoption Social Worker
Raylene is an Adoption Social Worker at Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, where she works with every member of the Adoption Triad: Birth Parents; Adoptive Parents; and, Adoptees. Raylene has a Bachelor degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology through the University of Nevada, Reno. Raylene then move to Las Vegas where she studied social work at UNLV and earned her Master’s degree. Raylene has worked in the area of social services for over eight years. Her work experience includes providing community and mental health services to children and teens, and working for the State of Nevada serving children through Child Protective Services as well as Adoptions.
Raylene believes that adoption is a wonderful and personal experience: “The ability to unite two families in their common goal of providing the best environment for a child is an honor.”
Family Care Consultant
Susan is the Adoption Services Family Care Consultant. Susan has worked with Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada for over 24 years, and has an Associate’s degree in Business Administration. Susan’s primary role is a supportive position for adoptive parents navigating through the process of adoption, for birth parents making the emotional and loving decision to place their child for adoption, and for adoptees searching for a connection to their identity and birth families. During her career with Catholic Charities, Susan has participated in approximately 600 adoption placements. She enjoys participating in the adoptive parenting classes offered through Catholic Charities and serves as notary public. Susan also has work experience as manager of the Senior Services Program, assisting seniors in our community to remain independent in their homes.
As an adult adoptee, Susan has a personal adoption experience. She recently met her birth family and enjoys a happy relationship with them. Susan states that she is, “blessed to have two loving and supportive families. The stories and memories shared by my families help us all to complete our tapestry of life.”
Community Outreach Coordinator
Monica Manglona is the Adoption Services Community Outreach Coordinator for Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. Monica works with organizations throughout southern Nevada to help familiarize the public with the services our department provides. Monica believes that by getting out into the community we can build a strong foundation and enhance our chances of helping those in need of our services. Monica has worked in adoption services in Accra, Ghana. She also worked closely with adults and children who were developmentally delayed. She received her undergraduates at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
