Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada Marks 85th Year Serving Southern Nevada’s Most Vulnerable
During April, a time recognized for community service, Catholic Charities is calling on Southern Nevadans to help those in need
LAS VEGAS (April 1 , 2026) – Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada(CCSN) celebrates 85 years of serving the Las Vegas Valley, continuing a legacy that began when the nonprofit opened its doors on April 16, 1941. Today, CCSN delivers essential social services across the community, including key food and nutrition programs like the Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and the St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility.
Throughout April, also National Volunteer Month, CCSN hosts its Feed Vegas Campaign, a community-driven initiative aimed at raising donations for the organization’s food programs while also connecting residents with volunteer opportunities. The campaign highlights the ongoing need for community support as many individuals and families continue to experience food insecurity.
“Eighty-five years is no small feat, and that kind of legacy reflects the strong bond our organization has built with volunteers and donors across the community,” said Sara Ramirez, president and CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. “Together, that shared commitment has allowed us to serve our most vulnerable neighbors for generations, and it continues to drive our mission forward today.”
As rising food costs, inflation and housing instability continue to affect many Southern Nevada residents, CCSN’s food and nutrition programs remain a vital lifeline for the community. In 2025, the organization delivered more than865,000 Meals on Wheels and senior nutrition to thousands of homebound seniors. Its St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility served an average of 483 daily meals, while the Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry distributed more than 2.3 million pounds of food.
April also brings CCSN’s annual Heart of Hope Luncheon on April 10, a fundraising celebration that honors the donors, partners and community leaders who make the organization’s work possible. The event recognizes those who have made a significant impact in supporting Catholic Charities’ efforts to serve individuals and families in need across Southern Nevada. Tickets and sponsorships support CCSN’s efforts in transforming lives and making a lasting impact for those most vulnerable in the community. Learn more at CatholicCharities.com.
CCSN accepts monetary and food donations to support its ongoing efforts.
