Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada Seeks Frozen Turkeys to Help Local Families Celebrate Thanksgiving

October 5, 2026

Annual drive will support holiday food distributions, homebound seniors and neighbors experiencing homelessness

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 05, 2026) — Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada (CCSN) is calling on the community to help put Thanksgiving meals on the tables of local families, homebound seniors and neighbors experiencing homelessness by donating frozen turkeys, traditional side dishes or funds to its annual Thanksgiving food drive.

This year, CCSN plans to distribute 3,000 frozen turkeys with holiday meal fixings through its Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry. The effort comes as approximately 400,000 Southern Nevadans, around one in six residents, experience food insecurity, leaving many households to make difficult choices among groceries, housing, utilities and other essential expenses.

“For a family already stretching every dollar, the added cost of a holiday meal may simply be out of reach,” said Sara Ramirez, CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. “A turkey, a bag of groceries or a financial gift can provide immediate relief and help a family maintain stability during a challenging time. Every contribution gives our neighbors the opportunity to celebrate together and reminds them that they are seen, supported and part of a community that cares.”

Community members can support the drive in three ways:

  • Donate a frozen turkey.
  • Donate nonperishable Thanksgiving foods, including boxed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce and canned yams.
  • Make a $50 online donation to help provide a Thanksgiving meal for a family of four.

Food donations will be accepted Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. at the Catholic Charities campus, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Monetary donations may be made at https://www.catholiccharities.com/monetary-giving/donate.

The turkey drive is one part of CCSN’s broader Thanksgiving response. In November, the organization will

  • Serve a free Thanksgiving meal to approximately 750 men, women and children at its St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility.
  • Pack and deliver holiday meals to approximately 1,800 homebound seniors through its Meals on Wheels program.
  • Provide 3,000 families with frozen turkeys and Thanksgiving meal fixings through the Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry.
