Feed Vegas: 84 Years of Serving Our Neighbors—and How You Can Help

April 17, 2026

Some organizations come and go. Others plant roots deep enough to last generations. Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada has been serving the Las Vegas Valley since April 16, 1941—and this April, we're celebrating 84 years of showing up for our neighbors.

That's 84 years of meals delivered. Pantry shelves stocked. Seniors cared for. Families helped through hard times. It's a milestone worth celebrating—and this month, we're inviting the entire community to join us in making it count.

What Is the Feed Vegas Campaign?

Every April, Catholic Charities hosts the Feed Vegas Campaign—a community-wide initiative focused on two things: raising donations to keep our food programs running, and bringing in volunteers who want to make a hands-on difference right here in Southern Nevada.

The timing matters. Spring is a moment to reconnect with our community and think about what it actually means to feed a city—not just once, but day after day, year after year. And right now, with food costs rising, inflation squeezing family budgets, and housing instability pushing more people into crisis, that work has never been more important. Families across our community are still navigating financial stress from the early months of the year. The need doesn't slow down just because the calendar has moved on.

That's exactly why Feed Vegas exists—and why your support this month makes such a real difference.

The Programs Behind the Mission

When you support Feed Vegas, you're helping sustain three essential food programs that serve thousands of Southern Nevadans every single week.

Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry. Amid ongoing economic uncertainty, our pantry has continued to meet families where they are. In 2024, Catholic Charities distributed more than 2.9 million pounds of food to nearly 47,000 people in need. For families stretched thin by the cost of groceries, our pantry isn't just a resource—it's a lifeline that helps them make it through the month.

Meals on Wheels. Last year, we delivered over 803,000 meals to more than 4,300 homebound seniors across Las Vegas and North Las Vegas—at no cost to them. For many of these seniors, the person at the door with a meal is also the only friendly face they'll see that day. That connection matters just as much as the food itself. Catholic Charities operates the largest Meals on Wheels program in Southern Nevada, and we're committed to sustaining and growing it so no senior has to go without.

St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility. Every morning at 10 a.m., we open our doors to anyone who needs a hot, nutritious meal. On a typical day, that's around 425 community members. No questions asked. No judgment. Just food served with dignity. It's a simple act—and it means everything to the people who walk through those doors.

Come Celebrate With Us

On April 25, Catholic Charities will host its special annual Feed Vegas community meal—a festive, celebratory feast made possible through the generous support of MGM Resorts International. Everyone is welcome to join us. We'll be serving braised beef chuck with cilantro lime rice, refried beans, flour tortillas, and roasted tomato salsa—along with horchata and tres leche apple cobbler for dessert.

It's a chance to sit down together, celebrate what this community has built over 84 years, and be reminded of why this work matters so much. Whether you come to eat, to volunteer, or simply to show your support, we'd love to see you there. Check our events page for details.

How You Can Help This April

Whether you want to give, donate goods, or show up in person, there's a place for you in the Feed Vegas Campaign.

Donate Food

Our food pantry runs on the generosity of community members who give what they can. Right now, our top five most-needed items are canned protein (tuna, chicken, Spam, and canned ham), canned fruit, canned vegetables, boxed cereal, and breakfast staples like oatmeal, peanut butter, and jelly. These aren't just items on a shelf—they're the building blocks of a meal for a family that needs one.

Make a Financial Gift

Monetary donations give us the flexibility to respond quickly when needs shift. Your support keeps our kitchens running, our delivery trucks on the road, and our pantry shelves stocked—especially during the months when demand is highest. If you'd like to make an ongoing impact, consider setting up a monthly gift that supports our programs all year long.

Volunteer Your Time

Volunteers are the backbone of what we do. In 2024, more than 4,300 volunteers gave over 18,000 hours of service—serving community meals, stocking the food pantry, assembling hygiene kits, and supporting holiday events across eight different service areas. This April, we'd love to add your hours to that legacy. Opportunities are available for individuals, families, and groups. Sign up to volunteer here.

84 Years. One Community. Still Going.

"With more than eight decades of providing service and assistance to our vulnerable community members, we're honored to continue our mission to this day," said Sara Ramirez, CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. "We have long worked collaboratively with our esteemed donors and volunteers to address the needs of the community, and we encourage anyone who believes in the power of hope to help us—especially this month—to make a crucial difference for those in need."

That's the heart of Feed Vegas. It's not about a single campaign or a single month. It's about a commitment that has been renewed every single day for 84 years. It continues because of donors who give, volunteers who show up, and a community that believes no one should go without.

This April, we hope you'll be part of it. Together, we can keep feeding our neighbors—with compassion, dignity, and hope.
