Supporting the Unhoused in Las Vegas This Fall

October 27, 2025

According to last year’s census, almost 8,000 people experienced homelessness in 2024 in Las Vegas. With so many struggling to find or afford housing, it’s important to show grace and support for those people however we can. At Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, we work to love and help those facing housing insecurity through our food pantry, dining facility, and housing assistance program. Through these programs, funded and staffed with the help of volunteers and donors, we are able to support those going through rough times. As the weather turns colder, we encourage you to find a way to show your support for people in our community struggling with housing insecurity. Continue reading to learn how you can help through Catholic Charities this fall.

Where to Donate Food in Las Vegas

Oftentimes, people without housing also struggle with food insecurity and may have to choose between a safe place to sleep or feeding themselves or their family. To help, Catholic Charities has a daily dining service at our St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility during the day. This provides a warm, balanced meal for free to those who need it. If you’d like to support this service, we accept monetary donations or volunteers to help serve food.

Catholic Charities also has the Hands of Hope Food Pantry to assist with food insecurity. If you’re wondering, “Where can I donate food in Las Vegas?” this is a wonderful spot to do so. Our food pantry accepts food donations to help stock our shelves for those who come to us for groceries. We offer fresh produce as well as nonperishable items like soups, beans, vegetables, and more. See the list of items we accept as donations to see if you can contribute in this way. If you would rather be hands on, we have a variety of volunteer opportunities both at the food pantry and in other areas of service. By supporting unhoused people through providing food, we can also encourage them and help them find other opportunities for assistance, like through our housing program.

Housing Assistance in Las Vegas

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada has a few different types of housing assistance programs including an emergency men’s night shelter, a housing navigation center, and the St. Vincent Apartments. Our emergency men’s shelter has 400 beds available each evening for those not requiring medical assistance. The shelter is cleaned and sanitized daily so those seeking shelter can feel comfortable and safe as they get a good night’s rest.

Along with the men’s night shelter, we offer low income apartments for individuals over the age of 18. The St. Vincent Apartments consist of 120 single-occupancy units available for rent. This facility is a great opportunity for those who make under $33,350 annually to live in an affordable apartment. Las Vegas low income housing can sometimes be over $650 a month, our maximum rent, so finding a spot like St. Vincent may help tenants save and have enough money for other expenses.

Our housing navigation center offers housing assistance and counseling for both individuals and families. We can help you find available housing and provide resources to ensure you’re equipped for the process. The housing navigation center is open for visitors Monday through Friday during regular business hours, minus when we are closed for lunch from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Are you interested in donating to Catholic Charities’ housing assistance or food programs? Would you prefer to support in person by volunteering? We’d appreciate the opportunity to be the vessel through which you support the unhoused this fall so feel free to reach out or sign up to volunteer

Together, we can care for those struggling with housing insecurity in our community.
