Build Kits

Hygiene Kits

Our Emergency Night Shelter provides a safe place to rest and shower for nearly 400 homeless men each night. Because of your help hygiene items are provided for those staying in the Shelter as well as our clients receiving help through other Catholic Charities services!

Instructions

  1. Submit a Volunteer Application
  2. Purchase new hygiene items and build hygiene kits
    • Each kit should include new travel size:
      • Shampoo
      • Soap or body wash
      • Toothbrush (individually wrapped)
      • Plastic sandwich bag (to place items in)
      • Optional: Write an encouraging phrase on the sandwich bag (ex. “Have a great day!”, “Wishing you well!”, “You are loved!”)
  3. Deliver kits to CCSN campus
  4. Record service hours

Baby Kits

Because of generous support from the community, the Baby Room located in the Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry and our WIC programs are able to provide essential baby items to families in need.

Instructions

  1. Submit a Volunteer Application
  2. Purchase new baby items and assemble kits using reusable bags
    • Each kit should include:
      • Baby toiletries like shampoo or lotion
      • Wipes
      • One package of sealed new diapers sizes 3, 4, 5, or 6
      • Optional: homemade or purchased baby blanket or hat
  3. Deliver kits to CCSN campus
  4. Record service hours

Delivery Instructions

Kits can be dropped off at the security shack at the entrance of our campus 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Virtual Volunteer Opportunities

Youth Mentor

The Youth Mentoring Program matches volunteer mentors with refugees ages 15 to 24 to lend support to their educational and career goals. Mentors help refugees feel more welcome in their new home and guide them as they become accustomed to life in the Las Vegas community.

*Currently not accepting new mentors.
Please submit an application to be added to the waitlist.
*Must be 18 or older

Mentor Role

Mentors help with a variety of life skills including:

  • Supporting the youth’s long-term educational and career goals
  • Completing applications for jobs and educational programs
  • Conversational English practice
  • Homework assistance
  • Exploring financial aid and scholarship opportunities
  • Participating in social and civic engagement

Time Commitment and Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Submit a Youth Mentor Application
  • One year commitment to mentor youth for two hours each week
  • Attend an Informational Session
  • Complete a brief interview
  • Agree to a criminal background check through Catholic Charities

COVID-19 Help

Sew Adult Cloth Face Masks

Calling all crafters to sew and donate adult cloth face masks for clients accessing our services!

Instructions

  1. Submit a Volunteer Application
  2. Secure fabric and sewing materials
  3. Sew a two-layer cotton face mask
  4. Wash each face mask when finished and place each mask in an individual plastic Ziploc bag to preserve cleanliness
  5. Deliver masks at the security shack at the entrance of our campus 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
