Community partners assist organization this holiday season to provide help for Las Vegas residents in need
Las Vegas – Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada (CCSN) planned and coordinated several special holiday happenings this month as it continued to serve the needs of the most vulnerable in Southern Nevada. Highlights in December include:
Fertitta Foundation Volunteer event (Dec. 12)
Sponsored by longtime donor the Frank and Victoria Fertitta Foundation and held in memory of Frank Fertitta Jr., CCSN gathered dozens of volunteers from the Bishop Gorman High School football team and cheerleading squad to help serve members of the community with a free and nutritious hot meal.
15th Annual 95.5 The Bull ‘Toys for Tickets’ toy giveaway (Dec. 18)
With the help of Founder Sally Bedotto, 95.5 The Bull and Station Casinos, the organization received truckloads of bicycles, dolls, action figures and other assorted toys to be gifted to CCSN clients. In addition, Rebel Stores, which also served as a toy drop-off location, donated an additional $10,000. On Saturday, Dec. 18, more than 500 children in the community received gifts as part of this effort.
Christmas Day meal (Dec. 25, 2021 – Media invited for visuals at 9:55 a.m.)
In keeping with tradition, CCSN will open its doors on Christmas Day and prepare 1,000 free meals to homeless and vulnerable men, women and children in the community. The special holiday menu developed by Chef Jun Lao will include slow roasted beef topped with savory mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and yule log for dessert.
